Hi everyone,
Today I’d like to welcome Chitra from Books & Strips.
She’s from India and has taken it upon her to read a book set in every state in India. You’ll have to swing by to see how far she is at the moment from completing this goal. She also has an impressive list of sources where you can get secondhand books. She reviews a wide variety of books if you go see, and she’s real honest in doing so, she isn’t shy to even give an honest opinion about a book that was a DNF.
If you’d like to know more about this amazingly nice person, please read on:
Name: Chitra
Age: 25
What did you study or do you study now / what is your current job? I’m a yoga teacher but I’m currently in between jobs. I’m studying a little more in terms to my career and I’m working on something else at the moment.
Do you have any other hobbies? I do sketch and paint. My sketches are over on another blog of mine, An Alien’s Art.
Your favourite color? Blue. A soft and bright blue that’s happy.
Do you collect anything (besides books)? Stuffed animals? Haha. I also collect figurines in bronze, some antiques some newer.
What’s the name of the book that you’ve had the longest? Have you read it? I’ve had, from my own collection, Enid Blyton The Wishing Chair, and yes, I’ve read it. If I include my parent’s collections I have this beautiful old Shakespeare. And I’ve not finished it. It’s too damn complicated!!
Have you ever regretted a book you purchased? A book that sounded so promising but you wished you’d have spent your money on another book after reading it? Quite a few but I pass them on in book trades. 🙂
Do you listen to audio books? Yes, I love them. I listen while painting and sketching or while ironing and sewing. My favourite is All The Light We Cannot See. It was amazing!
Do you have a favorite genre? Thrillers. Always!
What is the book highest on your wishlist right now? Hmm, this is hard to decide but I really want House Of Leaves. Or the Fables Collection.
A blind old man, a young apprentice working in a tattoo shop, and a mad woman haunting an Ohio institute narrate this story of a family that encounters an endlessly shifting series of hallways in their new home, eventually coming face to face with the awful darkness lying at its heart.
How is your library organized? By read and unread, read shelves are packed away if I’m not going to reread them immediately, unread books are displayed in open shelves. Books I may read again are kept in closed shelves.
Do you read more ebooks or physical books? Definitely physical books. I cannot tolerate ebooks and reading them reduces my enjoyment of the book by about 70%.
Do you have a favorite book? Um, not really. I have many favourites but picking just one? That’s mean Inge!
What’s the cover in your collection that you’re most proud of? Hmmm, I won this edition of Shakespeare in a contest which required me to submit a little poem. I’m proud because it’s beautiful and I didn’t get it by chance.
Do you have any idea how many books you own? <100, >100, >200, >300 …? not over 500 I think. I don’t really keep count but I have so many spiritual books that aren’t added to my goodreads shelves because they are local publications without ISBNs.
What’s the title of the last book you purchased? Well I just made a HUGE haul so I’ll tell you the name of the last book I added to cart and that is Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper. I’ve heard mixed things about it but a store was having a sale and I had to know for myself.
What was your favorite author when you were a child? Enid Blyton!!!! I wanted to go to a school like Mallory Towers and play Lacrosse. I had no clue what that was ut it was what I wanted to do.
From which author do you have most books? JK Rowling. And Enid Blyton.
Are there books you’ve read 2 or 3 times? Same as above. Lol. I’m starting to sound like a broken record.
How many books are there on your Goodreads challenge this year and how many have you read already? 100. I’ve finished 130.
Can you spell your name with the first letters of titles in your book case (name these titles+authors)?
I’m taking the easy way out with
C ollected Poems – Jeet tayil
H arry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – JK Rowling. The book that we got first. Didn’t understand a thing and went out to buy book one and two.
I mmortal – Krishna Udayasankar. (My very first blogtour book. I was super excited for it)
A round The Hearth : Kynpham Singh Nongkynrih
T he Girl With The Lowerback Tattoo – Amy Schumer (one of my favourites this year)
A nne Of Green Gables – LM Montgomery (one of my favourites)
Thank you Chitra for answering my questions! I’m so happy you wanted to do this!

I was also introducted to new bookbloggers through this post so for me it’s a double win :-). How do you cuddle a carpet ?! Lol.

Double wins are awesome! 😀
Carpet-cuddling would be something like: faceplant, spread-eagled and enjoy the feel of the fluffy carpet on bare toes and fingers… I love soft, lovely, quality carpets! 😀

So it’s like snow-angeling a carpet :-). I have a cat for feeling fluffy things between my hands ;-).

Isn’t she ?! I had no idea yoga was so popular in general.. I don’t know anyone who does it here but now I’ve got 2 bloggers already who practice yoga. Is this a sign?
