Happy Wednesday everybody!
It’s time again to introduce you to a new friend I recently made. Her name is Dee and she’s also living in Belgium. Unfortunately we don’t live close by, but it’s still cool. She only started blogging in February but it seems like she’s been around for much much longer already. She’s very involved in the blogging community and I even think many of you will know her already. If you don’t, be sure to check out her blog Novel Deelights too (love her blog name btw)! Now, it’s time for the:
Name: Dee
Age: Ugh. 44.
Birthday: September 6
What did you study or do you study now / what is your current job? I studied languages and went to university to become an interpreter but dropped out. Now I’m the worst housewife on the planet but since I don’t get paid for this job anyway, I really don’t care 😉
Do you have any other hobbies? I don’t have much time for them but yes. I’m trying to get better at Italian.
I’m learning to draw something more complicated than a stick figure.
I like to travel but don’t get to do much of it. And I’m an amateur photographer.
This is one I took on holiday in Italy last year. I had to get down really low because I was determined to have the weeds in front frame the picture. Worked out nicely, I think. Apart from the fact that I couldn’t get back up 😝
Your favourite color? teal
Do you collect anything (besides books)? My OH and I both collect dvd’s.
That’s not all of them 😃
And I also collect these olive oil jar thingiemajigs. I bring one from holiday every year.
What’s the name of the book that you’ve had the longest? Have you read it? It’s a children’s book with some lovely illustrations that I’ve had ever since I could read. It’s not in the best condition but I refuse to let go of it.
Have you ever regretted a book you purchased? A book that sounded so promising but you wished you’d have spent your money on another book after reading it? Haven’t we all? Sadly, more than once. But there have only been about 20 over the last three years so that’s not too bad. I can live with that.
Do you listen to audio books? Nope. I need to hold a book or kindle in my hands and see/read the words. I can’t concentrate on an audiobook. I go off and do other things and don’t pay attention.
Do you have a favorite genre? Crime, psychological thrillers, suspense, mystery, police procedurals with a dash of historical fiction and women’s fiction.
What is the book highest on your wishlist right now? The new Karin Slaughter. I’m a huge fan! It’s not coming until the summer though.
The stunning new standalone, with a chilling edge of psychological suspense, from the No. 1 bestselling author of the Will Trent and Grant County series.
Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn’s happy smalltown family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father – Pikeville’s notorious defence attorney – devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.
Twenty-eight years later, and Charlie has followed in her father’s footsteps to become a lawyer herself – the archetypal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again – and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatised – Charlie is plunged into a nightmare. Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it’s a case which can’t help triggering the terrible memories she’s spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime which destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won’t stay buried for ever …
How is your library organized? *snort* It has books and they’re on shelves.
That’s not all of them but it’s all the space I have. Sadly, a lot are in boxes. I keep telling my OH we have to move but apparently having too many books isn’t a good enough reason to do so.
Do you read more ebooks or physical books? More ebooks. I need to drive for an hour to find a bookstore that sells English books. I order physical books from the UK but I’m usually not patient enough to wait for them to delivered.
Do you have a favorite book? Of all time? Not really. Or at least I can’t think of one right now. I’ve been lucky to have read a lot of good ones throughout the years. One of my favourites last year was A Mother’s Confession by Kelly Rimmer.
What’s the cover in your collection that you’re most proud of? None of them. They’re all pretty boring.
Do you have any idea how many books you own? <100, >100, >200, >300 …? No idea but I’m going to go with more than 300
What’s the title of the last book you purchased? My last purchase was buying Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski.
What was your favorite author when you were a child? I don’t think I had one. I just borrowed a lot of books from the library but as a child I didn’t really pay attention to authors.
From which author do you have most books? John Grisham. And even though some of his latest have greatly disappointed me (apart from Sycamore Row), I can’t stop myself from buying his books.
Are there books you’ve read 2 or 3 times? The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
How many books are there on your Goodreads challenge this year and how many have you read already? My challenge is set at 120 and as I write this I’ve read 43.
Can you spell your name with the first letters of titles in your book case (name these titles+authors)?
Deep Down Dead by Steph Broadribb
Everything you told me by Lucy Dawson
Everything I never told you by Celeste Ng

This was tons of fun, followed Dee straight away! 😀
also, this–> ‘thingiemajigs’- I haven’t come across a person who used that word in the past, I’d say, 8 years, so I was super happy to see it used. I love it and I use it myself all the time 😀 *fist bumps*

Dee!! No that I thought it possible, but you just moved up another notch in my book by stating you have read The Hobbit more than once ❤ I read annually 🙂 Oh and I see we organize our bookshelves in the same manner haha 😉 Love your response to your housekeeping abilities.. we might have that in common as well haha.
