Good morning lovely people!
Today on the blog I want you all to meet the wonderful Alex! A few facts that might help to get to know her real fast. If you have to get her a present she would be super happy with socks, hoodies (she has one in every colour), mugs or sunglasses (she’s got around 40). Alex hasn’t read any Happy Potter book yet and thinks the cover of the novel Miss Peregrine’s Home of Peculiar Children is kind of scary and reminds her of the twins in The Shining. She also hates love triangles in books with a vengeance.
She’s really so nice and interesting so please pop over to her blog Cofeeloving Bookoholic if you haven’t visited yet!
Name: Alex
Age: 32
Birthday: April 13th
What did you study or do you study now / what is your current job?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in Media. I have been working as a product and content manager for 8 years now and I still love my job.
Do you have any other hobbies?
Besides reading and the whole bookstagram/booktube/book blog community? 😀 Yes, I do. I love traveling. I try to travel as much as I can. I love to visit Ireland, because that’s the best country in the world.
I also love music and going to concerts. I love movies and series, but I am not that obsessed with them anymore. I love meeting my friends and going out and just talk or play card or board games. I love playing games, because you can leave the world behind and just enjoy the company and have fun. And of course my two cats Paulchen & Pippi. I love my cats and playing with them.
Your favourite color?
That changes every day. It totally depends on my mood. But I love bright and strong colors. Purple, blue, yellow, green. I love neon colors or pastel colors.
Do you collect anything (besides books)?
Before I started my book collection, I collected movies and TV-series. I have a lot of those at home and I am very proud of them. I also collect earrings, sunglasses, magnets and pins. I mostly buy one or more of those things when I travel somewhere. I also have a lot of hoodies, scarfs, hats and chuck converse shoes. Maybe that’s not collecting, maybe it’s just obsession 😀
What’s the name of the book that you’ve had the longest? Have you read it?
I really have no idea. I always loved to have books around me, even though I wasn’t the biggest reader. But there were always books around. I still have a lot of those at home, but I really don’t know which one I have the longest.
Have you ever regretted a book you purchased? A book that sounded so promising but you wished you’d have spent your money on another book after reading it?
No. I never regret buying a book. I am a book collector and every book deserves a place. Even if I didn’t like the content. A book is always special and deserves a home, that’s why I never regretted buying a book.
Do you listen to audio books?
Yes, I do. I started at the beginning of the year and I really enjoy audiobooks now. I listen mostly to audiobooks when I clean my apartment. There’s a lot to clean and I love listening to a story while doing that.
Do you have a favorite genre?
I really read almost every genre and I enjoy all of them. But I’d have to say, that ya-contemporary is my home. I love reading ya-contemporaries. I get lost in them. They remind me of my past and I always think about what I would have done back then. It’s a great escape for me.
What is the book highest on your wishlist right now?
“Turtles all the way down” by John Green. By far. I NEED that book!
Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred thousand dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.
Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
In his long-awaited return, John Green, the acclaimed, award-winning author of Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars, shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity in this brilliant novel of love, resilience, and the power of lifelong friendship.
How is your library organized?
Ha, wonderful question. I have my read and unread books separated from each other. Within those I have my German and English books separated. My classics are also separated from my other shelves. Within that organization I have them organized by series and stand alones. And within that I have them organized by genre and then color. Yes, it’s complicated as hell to describe but it totally works out for me.
Do you read more ebooks or physical books?
Definitely physical books. I love my ereader, but I love writing in my books, taking notes and mark everything. And that’s unfortunately not possible with ebooks. Also, as a book collector, I need the physical books haha
Do you have a favorite book?
I have a lot of favorites. Most of them are from the past year, where I have read so many books. But the one book, that has been a favorite for many years is “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green.
What’s the cover in your collection that you’re most proud of?
I own an older edition of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. It’s German, but it’s a wonderful red hardback, that was very expensive back then. I am very proud, that I still own it. As far as for my favorite covers right now, I have to go with the paperbacks of “Nevernight” and “Godsgrave” by Jay Kristoff. They are just perfection!
Do you have any idea how many books you own? <100, >100, >200, >300 …?
I have no idea really. But if I had to guess, I’d say I own around 500 books.
What’s the title of the last book you purchased?
“There’s someone inside your house” by Stephanie Perkins, “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, “The Dazzeling Heights” by Katharine McGee.
What was your favorite author when you were a child?
I really don’t have one. My family and I weren’t the biggest readers, which I am very sad about. But I never read as kid, so I do not have a favorite author.
From which author do you have most books?
Probably Susan Elizabeth Philipps. I was in a huge romance phase in my late teens and I bought every book by her in German. And later started to collect the English ones as well. I think I have around 20-25 books by her.
Are there books you’ve read 2 or 3 times?
Just one: “The Fault in Our Stars”. I have read it 7 times now.
How many books are there on your Goodreads challenge this year and how many have you read already?
I set my goal to 80 books at the beginning of the year. At this moment I am at 96 – yay me!

Ooooh no. I’m not giving her even more ammunition. She seriously put me on a book buying ban for the rest of the year, haha.
I’d love that! Belgian guest on a Belgian blog. 😀

Hah, okay, definitely plenty of time then! I’ll see if I can schedule to do it somewhere near the end of November then; depending on the questions. So I don’t end up saying “I want to read this one” while I’ve read it by then. :’)

I’m going to sit here, quietly grumbling.
Until I can buy books again.

it would be better if you read your books in that time instead of grumbling 😂

I’ve only read two of the HP novels myself (I think 3 and 4 or something). I liked them but then they started with the movies and I watched the first movies and never got round to those books anymore..
