WWW Wednesday is a book list hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and I’m happy to participate today.
Three W’s:
What did you recently finish reading?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What I recently finished :
A wonderful debut, with lots of suspense and contrasting characters and situations that made it a lot of fun to read this. Already looking forward to reading more from her!
The Doll House by Phoebe Morgan
What I’m reading now:
This is my first read by Eva Dolan but I know some die hard fans so I really wanted to read one of her novels and this blurb sounded really amazing. I don’t know how I feel about this one yet though, I have a few problems with the timeline jumping back and forth, but I won’t cast a verdict yet and give it some more time.
This Is How It Ends by Eva Dolan
What I’ll (probably) read soon:
I really liked Ragdoll, the first novel in this detective series, and it ended so brilliantly, I just really want to know how the story continues.
Hangman by Daniel Cole
A detective with no one to trust. A killer with nothing to lose.
18 months after the ‘Ragdoll’ murders, a body is found hanging from Brooklyn Bridge, the word ‘BAIT’ carved into the chest.
In London a copycat killer strikes, branded with the word ‘PUPPET’, forcing DCI Emily Baxter into an uneasy partnership with the detectives on the case, Special Agents Rouche and Curtis.
Each time they trace a suspect, the killer is one step ahead. With the body count rising on both sides of the Atlantic, can they learn to trust each other and identify who is holding the strings before it is too late?
So that’s it, what are you reading this week? Share your link in the comments below so that I can come and take a look !
I want to read Hangman so bad. My Netgalley request was denied. I swear that publisher hates me 😂

I don’t even know who the publisher is, I don’t even look at that when requesting books. I did get a chance to read Ragdoll and I really liked that one so perhaps that was in my favor 🙂

It’s Orion and they’ve denied me every request I’ve made so far. I’m taking it personally 😂

Ha now I understand. It’s true they’re a hard one, and I can never get any paper copies from them either.

Nope, stopped trying with that but I do stubbornly keep requesting on Netgalley.

All these are new to me but they sound great especially Doll House. I hope that This is How it Ends will end up being a good read for you despite the shifting timeline. Happy reading.

I’ve seen many great reviews for The Doll House before so that’s why I picked this one up :-). The first this year of my ‘own’ books. It surprises me that you haven’t heard of it but I’m happy I can introduce you to something new. Thank you Diana!

Thank you, I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s as good as the first novel, Ragdoll. It’s never easy to be the next novel to an excellent debut.

Hangman is burning a hole in my kindle, so to speak. 🙂 I’m currently in the final quarter of The Chalk Man and am LOVING it! 🙂

Ha! I haven’t read any review yet of The Hangman so I really don’t know what to expect but pretty excited about this novel too. I did hear lots of raving about The Chalk Man but I’m a bit afraid of the hype. I’m looking forward to your review though, maybe you change my mind 😉

I’ve read a couple and they were positive so fingers crossed 🙂 The Chalk Man was brilliant – I know what you mean about hype and I agree but it was a really engaging read. x

I’ve been very tempted to try an Eva Dolan. I was lucky enough to see her on a discussion panel with other crime writers talking about serial killers and social issues and she really impressed me. I’ve just been a bit wary that there’s a little too much social commentary. Will be interested to hear what you think once you finish.

I get what you mean.. in this novel there’s a protesting by Molly against developers who buy entire housing blocks and drive people out of the homes they’ve had for 30 years, and the other character is a student protester.. I’m normally not very attracted to these stories but it doesn’t take away from the story, I wouldn’t take it too much into account ;-). Thank you for your comment Ali!

I was going to start Red Clocks by Leni Zumas, but my shipment was delayed. So I am reading through And I Darken. I am having trouble locating information on Hangman in the US edition. Do you happen to know when it might be out here? I have Ragdoll waiting patiently on me 😉

Ah, I just found it haha.. not until 7/28. I have some time it seems.

I’ve been meaning to get a copy of The Doll House! And I still have to read Ragdoll, but both books sound fantastic. I didn’t even try to request it though because it would probably be another denied request on my neverending list haha.
I hope you will enjoy your books this week and happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

I recommend that you add both to your readlist as they are equally great debuts :-). I’d definitely start with Ragdoll first, before reading Hangman 🙂

Both are already on my TBR. 😉 Although I still have to get a copy… Hopefully some time soon.

Your so lucky! Hangman won’t be released in the US until July 😦 I loved Ragdoll and can’t wait to see where the story goes.

Thank you Tina, I guess I’m lucky for once :-). At least you’ll know in advance if it’s a good one 😉

You also got me to find out that some editions of it also call it Marionet instead of Hangman. Which is a pretty cool title to be honest. 😮 Long live, Inge! 😀
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha. I think Marionet (same in Dutch) is the German title for this novel and I agree that it’s a great title. When you know that people are in fact hanging from strings (in Ragdoll) and someone is ‘pulling the strings’ this is a really good one 🙂
