It’s been a while but I saw something interesting on the web the other day that I really want, no NEED, to share with you. I seriously love everything that you can make with books and a bookish wall clock sounds great doesn’t it?
It’s also very simple to make which is even better news if you really want to give it a go. All you have to do is find books with numbers in the titles (I’ll give you my list of preferred books too!) and make sure the pages of the books can’t open (so use either tape or modpodge to glue it together) and fix it with some strong adhesive strip to the wall.
Here’s what it would look like :
This next one doesn’t have numbers in the titles but I do like how the books are positioned.
I know what you’re thinking, it’s too difficult to do that to your books, right? But why not hunt down a secondhand copy? As long as the cover is okay then it could serve its purpose right? Maybe nobody else wants the book anymore and you could rescue it (ok I’m getting carried away now). Or you can always photocopy a front cover, although that’s not really the same for me.
If you need more inspiration on what books you can use, here’s an article in Bustle that can also help you come up with a few books with numbers.
And this is how my clock could look like with the titles I chose :
- The One by John Marrs
- Two Evils by P.J. Tracy
- Three Wishes by Lianne Moriarty
- The Big Four by Agatha Christie
- Five Parks by Ross McGuiness (never heard of it but the cover looks good)
- Six Years by Harlan Coben
- The Final Seven by Erica Spindler
- Thursdays at Eight by Debbie Macomber
- November 9 by Colleen Hoover
- The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
- Eleven Minutes by Megan Miranda
- Twelve by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
So what do you think of the idea? Do you have any books with numbers you would definitely want on your wall? Did I miss any good books on my clock? Let me know!
Love it and I wish I had the wall space to do it! 😍

I don’t have the space either but I like the idea too! Thanks Nicki!

I like the idea but.. like.. the only way I’d had the wall space for it is if I moved my bookcases out of my living room and I’m so not up for that, haha! Maybe one day if I’ve moved and have more space but then the bf would have to agree as well. [And I don’t really know whether my heart would be able to take it?]

Nono I wouldn’t move a bookcase either! Better get a big house with your own reading room 😉

That’s what I’m aiming for! [Why do houses have to be so expensive though.. Like, I simply need an extra bedroom for my books.. xD]

I would love a library / reading room. With book related quotes.

It would take up a lot of room, I prefer a book shelf to whole clock too. But I had fun trying to do one temporarily.

Love how these look! And sounds like a good excuse to go out and buy more books to fit the theme! if only i had the wall space! Maybe they should make mini book covers just for this purpose!

Uh, this is pretty awesome! ❤
I think it could work with the cover image printed out and maybe put in a frame of sort… for consistency 😀

I like that idea too, you can’t have too many different formats.. Thanks Norrie!

This is brilliant! I may have to hit the thrift stores and see if I can pull this off. We have plenty of empty space ❤

Oh I’d love to see that, and the list of books you would love to use. I have mostly thrillers in my 12 numbers but I guess your clock would look very different 🙂

I wonder how it would look if you photocopied the covers and framed them?

That’s certainly possible as well although if possible I’d still go for the look where you see real books 🙂

I know, I don’t have space myself but I’d put it in my dreamhouse, together with the dream library 🙂

I like the idea! These look so cool. Maybe to save money from buying new books, print a cover image and frame it.

This is such a neat idea. I’d probably wanna put my entire harry potter collection up the wall but I wouldn’t be able to read it 😦 So maybe I’ll just try putting book covers instead 😛

Are there 12 volumes in that series? I thought not but if it is it’s a pretty cool idea to use an entire series or books from one author too. Since you’re into DIY, check out my book folding DIY of a simple heart and the word Home, and my book flower tutorial too if you want more of my not-so handiwork :-). Thank you for commenting!!

Def will. No, there aren’t 12 books but I’d put other favorites on there to make it 12 😀

What a fabulously fun idea. IT would look great on a big wall. I think I like hte idea of the books not having numbers, but just the position.
