I’m back with 5 new book covers for you to pick and choose your favorite one. This is just for fun so there are no wrong answers! OK, I’ll go first:
The Cactus by Sarah Haywood
I kind of like both covers but if I really neeeed to choose I’ll go with cover 2. I like how the title of the book is written in a cactus shape 🙂
Only Child by Rhiannon Navin
Cover 2. It’s the one I read so I’m naturally attracted to that one. I like more abstract covers more as well probably.
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Cover 1, without a doubt. The guy on the second one looks so drab, he doesn’t attract me at all and I’d walk right past this one!
The Woman Before Me by Ruth Dugall
Lots to choose from and that makes it even more difficult but I’m going with Cover 1. That face looking at me just makes me want to pick it up and flip those pages.
Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
Difficult! I kind of like them both. I’ll go for cover 1 because it’s even more atmospheric although I like the bloody O very much in the second one :-).
So that’s it. Tell me your thoughts! If you can’t get enough, check out Battle Of The Books #1 – #2 – #3 – #4 – #5

We only differ on Only Child! Thanks for making your choice!

There are so many cool covers! For me when it comes to Only Child the first cover wins. I also agree with most of your choices!

Thanks Nikola! I feel kind of more loneliness, emptiness with the second cover, which is exactly what the story is about… but I like your choice too 😉

The Cactus – 2
Only Child – 2
A Man Called Ove – 1
The Woman Before Me – I actually don’t like any of these 😂. If I had to choose, I’d go with the first one although I prefer the picture of the second cover but there’s way too much text on it.
The Winter People – 1 (such a great book!)

Cool! I think you’re the first who agrees with my choice of the cover of Only Child :-). Thank you for sharing your picks!

They’re a mix of thriller / contemporary. Only Child is about the effect on a small child – told by his POV – of the death of his brother in a high school shooting. It’s the only one I read yet. The rest are books I saw on other people’s blogs and when I added them to my goodreads wishlist I saw the other covers :-). Thanks for making your choice!

OMG, the cactus one is adorable! I can’t even decide which one i like more ❤
Winter people: i prefer the first one, but i think the second one suits the genre/style more. The first one looks like some modern crime/scandi noir thing.

Hihi I like em too! I can’t remember who reviewed it and made me add the book to goodreads so that I saw the other cover… but it was a raving review 🙂 Thank you Norrie!

Thanks Holly! I noticed you bloghopped a lot today already and it’s lovely you stop by here too! Interesting choices, I think it’s almost 50/50 the same choices then 🙂

I like the first cover in the first 4 categories (it’s the one blooming flower for the cactus cover, the nice house picket fence which makes me think something bad is coming on only child, the second ove covers looks like a bad remake of the odd couple, agree with you on the woman before me) and then the 2nd cover in the last(all the red against the snowy background – deliciously creepy).

Thank you! The white picket fence is not an omen though, the bad thing already happened in the first chapter of Only Child. A small child’s brother is killed in the first chapters and this is his story about how he deals with it. Red and white (snow) works really great doesn’t it!

aw man. See now I don’t like the picket fence, it doesn’t deliver what’s actually in the book.

I am in complete agreement this week with every single one 🖤

I love these posts!!
I liked:
Cactus 2
Only Child 1
Man Called Ove 1
Woman Before Me 1 (or 4)
Winter People 1
So we have similar opinions! Apart from the Only Child one 🙂

I agree with your choices. I do like both of the only child covers but like you I read the blue one so I’m partial it. I do like the bloody O in people but still like the first cover better too.
Great post!

Thanks, we’re so in agreement 🙂 I wonder if Only Child really makes you choose the blue one if you read it 🙂

I wonder why there are so many covers of The Woman Before Me . I’d expect that with a classic or a blockbuster but this doesn’t fit either discription….Are they from different countries?

I don’t know, I always get them from Goodreads and my eye fell on them. Maybe they knew they didn’t get the cover right yet :-). It might be different publishers… I don’t know anything about different countries.

I’ve been wanting to read The Man Called Ove for ages, but if it had that ugly second cover I’d avoid it in a huge circle. 😂 I guess the cover does have a lot of importance when choosing a book. 🙂 I agree with all your choices except the cactus one, I like the first one better. 😁

I wouldn’t touch that second cover either, reminds me of that tv series with Mrs Hyacinth Bouquet and her brother Onslow. I like the first Cactus cover too but if it was a more upbeat read and I don’t think it is :-). Thanks for letting me know your choice Marina!

So many great covers. I am sitting on the fence with those first two – I just can not decide. 🙂 I may pick the first cover for Cactus but then again, the second one is also great…. uuugh, this is tough! 🙂
Re. the last one: I would probably pick the second one… it somehow speaks to me and that bloody ‘O’ is also appreciated. 🙂 But again, the first one is very atmospheric…
Really tough choices Inge, great selection. 🙂 xx

That bloody O is definitely what makes it so brilliant :-). Thank you Vera!

Great post,Inge!I agree with you on Ove and Cactus. The second cover for Ove is boring, the first one fits the story more.I’d go with 2 for the rest of the covers.

Ah yay, thank you for your vote! I don’t think anyone likes the second cover of Ove… I’m so glad I found it to share 😆

Love this feature… I bet I say that every time, but a reminder doesn’t hurt! 🙂
I was agreeing you with all books apart from Woman Before Me.. being brutally honest, I kind of don’t like any of the 4 covers for this title… although if I really-really had to choose, I’d go for nr 1, too… so yeh, still, agreeing with you 100% 😀

Haha I should check if you say that every time, but I don’t mind at all, you may keep on saying it. Woman Before Me isn’t one of my fav novels either.. I don’t know where I got the idea to post that cover, must have seen someone read it and then I ckecked it out, I assume. Thanks for being so agreeable with me this week 😄
