I’m back with 5 new book covers to pick and choose your favorite one. This is just for fun so there are no wrong answers! OK, I’ll go first, then it’s up to you:

Gone by Midnight by Candice Fox

I’m going for cover n° 1. I totally get cover 2 and it is much creepier but I like the psychological thriller vibe more than the creepy horror vibe so that’s why I choose the first.

Goodbye, Perfect by Sara Barnard

Oh cover 1 without a doubt. It has such lovely soft colours, so inviting!

Never Tell by Lisa Gardner

OK cover 2 because the red just screams danger and fire (and I know there’s plenty of both in the novel).

The Truth about Love and Dogs by Lilly Bartlett

Well this is a special one. The author sent them to me asking for my and also your opinion so I really want to hear what YOU have to say about this one because for me, this is the most difficult one and I don’t really know what cover to choose. In the end I chose cover 2 because with such a title (which I adore btw) I really want to see a dog on the cover to make it extra sweet. If you look closely there’s one on the first cover too but you really have to look hard (well I didn’t see it at first sight). I just think I’d pick it up sooner at the bookstore if I saw the second one.

Very different covers… but I really like the first one. The first seems like a love story, the second feels like the book is tragic and sad…

  1. I agree with you on numbers 3 and 5, but I love the creepy vibe cover on number 1 for that reason. Number 2 I’m a sucker for anything yellow and flowery like! And number 4, I just really like the dotted about pictures on the green park background.

  2. Oh, I love these posts, Inge. They’re fun, and I love to see the different covers, which sometimes aren’t so different, and at other times, you wonder did a blind person create them? lol!

    As for choices? Hmm, #1, #4, #6, #7 and yes, #9 like you, because it seems more upbeat to look at.

    • Thanks Hayley, me too, it’s weird how you want to read a novel with one cover and wouldn’t pick it up if it had a different one sometimes. I had the same feeling about Goodbye Perfect but I like pastels (and pink) so much I had the same reaction with the other one :-).

  3. Another great edition! I’m the same for most covers, although I actually like the first The Truth About Love And Dogs cover a tiny bit better (mostly because I love teal covers).

    • Thanks Yvo! It was difficult to choose that one… I prefer a different kind of dog actually and I think the background and the dog is a bit too much the same colour but it’s still the cover I think I would pick up first if both of them were next to each other… I can totally live with your pick though!

  4. Oooh what a great post, I really enjoyed seeing the different covers and gaining a little insight into the process. I agreed with a lot of your choices, but prefer the 1st cover for “the truth about love and dogs” it seems less sentimental (although obviously I don’t know what the book is like).
