Happy hump day! I’m here to bring you again 5 new book covers (ok I was so fired up I even added an extra one so you get 6 book choices this time). It’s up to you to pick and choose your favorite cover. This is just for fun so there are no wrong answers! OK then, I’ll go first, then it’s up to you:
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
I choose cover 1. It’s still on the fun side with the female character turning her back on him but looking over her shoulder, so there’s the title but at the same time you see some possible flirting too, which captures what this book will be about really well. The other cover has more of a negative feel to it.
He Started It by Samantha Downing
The first cover feels like a movie cover so it’s obvious I go for cover 2. I’m normally not a fan of faces on covers but they picked the right person for this one. Her stare keeps my eyes on it.
What Might Have Been by Holly Miller
The most difficult one! I think I’d ultimately go for cover 1 because it’s so nice to look at but I do love the contrast in the second cover which gives a glimpse of the two different lives she’ll lead in the book.
True Crime Story by Joseph Knox
Ah cover 1 of course. The pink is the most obvious reason but I also like that there’s a photo of a person on the cover, it gives it a more realistic touch to it.
You’ll Be The Death of Me by Karen M. McManus
This one’s very easy. Cover 1 looks so much better. I love that many of her books have the same lay-out too. The second cover doesn’t really do anything for me.
So that’s it. Tell me your thoughts! If you can’t get enough, check out the previous book battle #18
except for true crime story i prefer cover 1 for all books.

Oh that’s an interesting choice for True Crime Story. I’m afraid to say that once there’s some pink on the cover I’ll usually always choose that one :-). Thanks for the votes!

I think I’m with you for all of them Inge, although I’m a bit torn with the cover for What Might Have Been so not sure about that one! xx

Thanks Kelly! It seems these covers of What Might Have Been are quite a dilemma for all of us 🙂

That one was the most difficult choice for me too, they both have something! Thank you Nicki!

Well, I’m going opposite this time!
1. I never liked the typeface size of cover #1 so was immediately drawn to the symmetry of #2. I also like how they’re facing each other, going head to head.
2. Though it does give rise to looking like a movie cover, #1 is my choice because of that shovel! You just know she did something and I want to know what!
3. I agree this one is difficult as I like both. It’s a draw!
4. I was first drawn to #2 until I read your comment. Now I’m torn!
5. This author is so consistent with her covers and #2 is the layout formula in the US. It’s the one that tells me McManus is the author.
This is always fun and I love reading your points of view, Inge💜 You make me reconsider every time!

You make a good point about the shovel, that’s a great prop on a cover and does stand out among the many book covers :-). I had no idea that McManus uses this lay-out for all her books in the US, it’s so different. I think we both like the book we’re used to seeing most and is consistent with the series we come across in our parts of the world.
Thank you so much for giving it so much thought Jonetta! Till next time ;-)!

I think you’re right about the McManus covers, Inge💜

I would have liked the second The Hating Game cover better if they had kept the font from #1.
Book #2 could be either cover, but I kind of like the first. And cover #1 for McManus.

I like the second The Hating Game too if they would lose the thunder clouds above their heads, I think it would give already a different feel and look. I think they needed to have a balance between the white and yellow colour on the covers or something. Thanks for letting me know your preferred covers!
