What’s it about?
Michelle goes out on the town with friends but never returns home. Every parent’s nightmare; their teenage daughter goes missing. Time passes; the police inform the parents to expect worst.
DS Jim Broadbent becomes involved in the investigation. He begins to uncover a sickening sex trade which cuts across an MI5 investigation.
He is then taken into the world of the arms trade where sex abuse and white girls are trafficked in part payment.
The investigation leads to Spain where he reignites his affair with Sonja; not under the circumstances he would have liked, but to further the link in the arms trade being investigated by MI5.
Born in the late 40’s only a few years after the second world finished with all the hardships of rationing, cold houses windows running with condensation with frost forming on the inside as well as the outside, living in one room for heat. Growing up in the 50’s with little or none of the modern comforts of today’s modern world, my brother and sister were happy well as happy as you could be. I worked in various organizations including PO as a steward on cruise liners (I must write about that) then on the buildings picking bits of skills here and there and became a jack of all trades certainly master of none. Then joined the police stayed for 30 years mainly as a detective Sergeant dealing with all manner of criminal cases including child abuse rape cases and murder.
I was surfing the web looking for that first opportunity for participating in a blog tour and I came across this book which made me take a much closer look. What can I say, I really liked the cover, would be inclined to read it based on the cover alone almost. Furthermore, it promises to be a hard hitting crime novel and the fact that the author of this novel had a career as a Detective Sergeant for so many years really makes me think that it will give the novel a special dimension. It seems interesting to me and I might read and review this in the future.
